Officer on Special Duty in Government of Gujarat, Archaeologist
Yadubirsingh Rawat is Officer on Special Duty in Government of Gujarat and former Director of State Archaeology. He is an expert field archaeologist and has been associated with excavation of many archaeological sites belonging to proto-historic to medieval periods and located in different regions of India. He expertizes in Harappan and early historic Archaeology and has worked at site like Dholavira and Kanmer in Kachchh, Banawali in Haryana. He has done extensive explorations in different regions of Gujarat. Recently he has brought to light a Buddhist monastic establishment of an early historic period at Vadnagar in north Gujarat. At present he is excavating KotdaBhadli, a late Harappan site in Kachchh, jointly with Deccan College, Pune. He has contributed many research articles in national and international journals and has co-authored “Excavation at Kanmer, 2005-06 to 2008-09”, published from Kyoto, Japan in March 2012.
